Across the Street

This was painted on July 8, 2007, at Peppers Gallery as a demo. It is just looking across the highway/street from the porch. Jo demonstrated as part of her show at the Old Timers Celebration in Magdalena. You can see the demo here on Jo's Blog.

Pastel on Colourfix pastel card, 9 x 12 inches, $100.00, unframed. Free Shipping.

 Hurley Smokestacks

This was painted the summer of 2006, plein air. The smokestacks could be seen for miles. This view is from a couple of miles away along the highway and railroad. It was an interesting subject and made even more so by the fact that they were to be destroyed in 2007. The stacks fell on June 6, 2007. An amazing landmark for so many years.

Acrylic on canvas, 9 x 12 inches. $175.00 framed. Free Shipping

 Gila Oasis

This was painted in the quiet canyon of the Gila Cliff Dwellings on a trip with Sue. Such a beautiful spot and area. The color on this is very red compared to the painting.

Pastel on Daler-Rowney paper. 8 x 10 inches. $150.00, framed. Free Shipping

 Bird House Out Back

This was painted out in the back yard in January 2007 on a sunny evening as the sun was going down. You can read more about it and see a demo of the progress on Jo's blog.

Acrylic on canvas mounted on board. 8 x 10 inches. $150.00, framed.

 Peppers Window

This is the window at Peppers Art Gallery in Magdalena, New Mexico. It is much like any window in the old adobe houses in the area. The walls are very thick, sometimes 18 inches or more. This creates such good insulation that the houses are cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Painted during a show at the gallery while Jo visited with customers and other artists. Another favorite of the artist. Read more about it here on the blog. It was also the featured painting on ArtBlogs4U the first week in January, 2007.

Pastel, 8 x 10 inches on Art Spectrum Pastelcard. In Peppers Gallery in Magdalena, New Mexico. Sold. In private collection in Magdalena, New Mexico.

 On the Rocks

This area between Silver City and Deming, New Mexico, is very unusual and beautiful. Huge boulders were flung into the air by a volcano near Albuquerque and landed in a clump approximately a mile in diameter. You can explore, like a maze, just winding your way between the rocks. It is pleasant for picnicing or hiking as you can find cool shaded areas in which to excape the heat of the sun.

This was painted early morning to capture the light. Painted the summer of 2006 with wild flowers and green in the usually dry New Mexico desert. This is one of Jo's favorite paintings for the year.

You can read more about this painting and the one below on Jo's Blog, here.

Pastel, 9 x 12 inches on Art Specturm Pastelcard. $175.00 framed. Free shipping.

 Looking Out

This is a view looking out to the East from the City of Rocks. It was painted about mid-day as you can tell from the shadows or lack of shadows. Painted the summer of 2006, the "green " summer in New Mexico.

Pastel, 9 x 12 inches on Art Spectrum Pastelcard. Unframed. $100.00 Free shipping.
