Golf courses by country and state in alphabetical order. These are courses we have enjoyed including the course we play all the time in Bastrop, Texas. If you get a chance, check them out! There are many more that haven't appeared here yet. Hopefully this year I will get them up. We play in Canada every summer and there are some great courses.

Bolivia, South America

La Paz, Bolivia

La Paz Country Club, a private club but visitors can play with a passport. Caddies a must. Beautiful clubhouse and the Andes in the background. The most spectacular views. Canyons surround the course with bluffs and gorges. Where Jo learned to golf, or started golfing we should say. No contact information but can be obtained at http://www.bolivia.com or http://www.boliviamall.com or just on Google. Haven't played since 1994. Wow. There is golf in Santa Cruz and Cochabamba, Bolivia as well. Never played there, but it is probably good.

Canada

Kootenay Rockies

Golden, BC

Golden Golf & Country Club, Opened 1986, 18 holes. Probably the prettiest golf course we played in 2002. It was raining so we walked. An amazing course with views and so well kept. (250) 344-2700 or the page. Played Summer 2004

Invermere, BC

Eagle Ranch Golf Resort, Opened 2000. 18 holes. What can we say? Another spectacular well done course. Global positioning. One par three sits across a gulch with bluffs around it. Too cool. Play Greywolf too. Nearby. 1-877-877-3889 tee times. Packages. Visit page.

Panorama, BC

Greywolf at Panorama, Opened 1999. 18 holes This golf course is wonderful. The most spectacular hole on a pinisula surrounded by bluffs and mountains. A "Wow" course. Best to stay in the resort with a golf package and also play Eagle Ranch which is nearby. (250)341-4100 for tee times or 1-888-Greywolf (473-9965). Page. Packages at 1-800-663-2929 or page. Played Summer 2002

West Kootenays

Golfers' delight! Golf season runs from about mid April to mid November, depending on weather. We stay at Woodbury by the Lake, B&B and Cottage, 4239 Woodbury Village Rd. (250) 353-7484, page, about 40 minutes northeast of Nelson on Highway 3A. We reserve the cottage well ahead of time. We stayed 3 weeks in 2002 and 2 weeks in 2004. These golf courses are within 30 minutes to two hours from the cottage. In 2002 we stayed three weeks in Winlaw at the Karibu Park, as well, a more rustic setting with cabins. So we have played these courses several times. Wonderful area. Art Walk goes on in the area during the summer. Many businesses display art and have the artist in attendance on the First Friday of the month during June, July and August. Fishing, water skiing, and all water fun which we don't take advantage of. Lots of campers, bikers, hikers, etc. in the area. Check out the Kettle Valley Railway for biking and hiking. Abandoned railroads have been converted for this purpose. Beautiful and off the highway. The Province sells a discount book with 2 for 1 golf, meals and more at the welcome centers. Many of the golf courses take part in this, especially in the Kootenays. You save enough on one round of golf to pay for the book, most are for after 12 noon and not good on major holidays.

Balfour, BC

Balfour Golf & Country Club, 602 Queens Bay Road, Balfour, BC, just north of Nelson. 18 holes. Scenic with hills and views. Surprise, surprise. New clubhouse. (250) 229-5655 Visit the page. Summer 2002 / August 2004

Kaslo, BC

Kaslo Golf and Country Club, 419 5th. Street, just at the southern edge of town. A great 9 hole course. Trees, hills, blind shots, bells to ring and great views of the glaciers and mountains. Friendly and inexpensive. $47 Canadian for two with cart for nine holes. Easy walking as well, even with the hills. Pleasant. (250) 353-2262 Web page. Summer 2002 / August 2004

Kimberly, BC.

We golfed several of the golf courses here in 2003, very nice. Small town with many restaurants and things to do. St. Eugene's Mission was one of the golf courses we liked. We also enjoyed the municipal course. In 2004, it was raining for the weekend we had scheduled in Kimberley and we did not golf.

"Kimberley is located in the East Kootenays and is truly a golfers paradise, with 5 Championship golf courses within 30 minutes of each other, Kimberly is a recreational haven. Not only do we offer golf here, but there is excellent hiking, fishing, rafting, and other world-class outdoor pursuits in the area. Kimberly, is a wilderness utopia with spectacular natural hot springs, lakes, and rivers." quote by Melanie.

Info here for accomodations:

Northstar Mountain Village, Kimberley BC

Kokanee Springs, BC

Kokanee Springs Golf Resort, East shore of Kootenay Lake, ferry ride from the Nelson side. 18 holes. On Mountain Time, Nelson is Pacific Time. 1 800 979-7999. Older established course. Nice views, etc.... A little more expensive for the area. Summer 2002/August 2004

Nelson, BC

Granite Pointe Golf Club, overlooking Nelson, south side of town. 18 holes. Many hills and granite to contend with. A spring providing a drink of water on the back nine. Played several times in 2002 and again in 2004. Beautiful, friendly. Views, views. Nice club house and restaurant. A favorite.1 877 677-6077 Summer 2004 / August 2004

The Valley View Golf Club, northwest of Nelson on Highway 6 between Winlaw and Slocan. Nine holes, but separate tees if you play 18. Beautiful and on several terraced levels on the side of the hill. Mountains surround it and a river nearby. Friendly, inexpensive and fun to play. Played in Summer 2004. A good walking course, but up and down the side of the hill. Carts available. 1-800-324-4653 Summer 2002, several times. Close to Karibu Park.

New Denver, BC

Slocan Lake Golf Club, 2 km N. of New Denver, A scenic course, but the fairways are close together. You hear "Fore" very often and on every side. We played once. Walk on, no tee times. Inexpensive. (250)358-2408 Busy. Only played 2002.

Rossland/Trail, BC

Rossland-Trail Country Club, (two courses) just north of Trail is the Rossland -Trail Birchbank Course, 18 holes, opened 1967. Beautiful, well kept course. Again views are great. Worth a visit for sure. (250)693-2255 or golfrtcc@direct.ca for tee times or visit the page. Summer 2002/ August 200r

They have a nine hole course, Rossland Course, that opened in 1928 on the side of a mountain. Fun to play but probably not for serious golfers. We enjoyed. Inexpensive. Same contacts. I think this was where we had to reserve a cart as well. Summer 2002

Salmo, BC

Salmo Golf Club, Airport Road. Nine Holes. Pretty flat course surrounded by beautiful mountains. Not just back and forth though like some nine hole courses. Walk on, no tee times. Would play again, time permitting.(250)357-2068 or see the page.
