FAMILY CRISIS CENTER, BASTROP,
TEXAS
Check out the official page here.
This is the fifth year for the Festival of Trees in Bastrop.
Jo has taken part every year. The first year she made a wreath
with hand painted ornaments, old toys. The other years she has
participated with the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild. This year the theme
for the Guild's tree is Bluebonnets. Below is the list of artists
participating this year. Photos of the Guild tree and some of
the work setting up the trees at the Hyatt on November 1 follow.
More pictures will be added of the festival and the wrapping and
delivery of the trees on Sunday. Scroll down to see the trees
and the fun.

Gene's and Jo's Rocking Horse Donation
This rocking horse was purchased last year in the live auction,
unfinished and rough. Gene sanded and cleaned it up and Jo painted
it.
It will be in the live auction again this year in it's updated
glory.

The Guild's Donation
November 1 - Guild volunteers, Cynthia Nisula, Karen Darr
and Jo Castillo, met at the Hyatt to decorate the tree. There
was a room in the back set aside for decorating for the Family
Crisis Center. We arrived at 10, our assigned time, and there
was one finished tree and 3 in process. Other trees were decorated
on October 31. This was the start of the bluebonnet tree. It
is a 7 foot. tall tree, but looked small compared to the huge
trees others were working on. :)

A shot of the decorations for the
tree. |
 |
This was the Doggie Spa tree. It
was finished and ready to go out into the hotel. |
 |
This was the First National Bank
tree in process. |
 |
This tree has basketball sized ornaments.
Balls and roses. It has accompanying topiary trees and hanging
baskets. Huge tree. |
 |
Here is the bluebonnet tree in the
middle of the adorning or so. |
 |
Here is one of the trees being towed
down the hallway, through the lobby on the stands with wheels
that were prepared for the trees. The trees will be on the stands
throughout the hotel and on Saturday, November 18, will be rolled
back into the ballroom for the Festival of Trees gala. Amazing
how great they look in the hotel. |

One of the trees in the lobby, with
carolers. |
 |
A not so large tree in the entrance
to the cafe. |
 |
A huge tree donated by the Board
of the Family Crisis Center and decorated by Peggy Colbert, chair
of the festival. It is the story of the Velveteen Rabbit. The
rabbit is the size of 5 year old child. :) Beautiful. |
 |
Across the lobby, you can see the
Velveteen Rabbit, a table top tree and the edge of the bluebonnet
tree. The bluebonnet tree is placed near the front entrance.
As you enter the hotel it is just to the left. Very nice spot. |

The bluebonnet tree, finished in
the lobby. |

The finished tree from the front.
The packages are "pretend" gifts. The extra donated
gifts will be placed on the night of the festival. Some in a
basket and some on easels. |
 |
And here it is from a further distance. |
 |
Here are the volunteer decorators. Hope you enjoy
looking into a small part of the preparations for the Festival
of Trees. See you there! Help the Family Crisis Center and the
Bastrop community. |
 |
This is the ballroom on Sunday morning. All the
serving tables and extension cords, etc. have been removed. The
trees are waiting to be wrapped and picked up or delivered. |
