PLEIN AIR with JO
Plein air is painting from life, usually outside. As
you see above it can be a challenge. It can be done on the front
porch, tailgate, trail or cliffs. Luckily, there is no inclement
weather in these photos, but it does happen. Some artists
work in the wind, rain, snow and ice. They wear gloves,
sit in a car and suffer the elements. There are visitors and
on-lookers and a few perils like snakes. In the picture
above you see some of the animal on-lookers. Jo usually paints
in pastels or acrylics when working plein air. It is great
to go with friends and painting outside from life opens the artists'
eyes to new opportunities. Painting and sketching must
be done quickly as the light is changing rapidly. Come
in to Jo's Plein Air section and see some paintings done in this
manner. There is more in the "On the
Road" section as well.
