Roadside Chicharrón A roadside restaurant/cafe on the road near Cochabamba, Bolivia. It is common, especially on Sundays, to find many roadside stands selling chicharrón (fried pork or other meat). The meat is fried over a fire in a fifty gallon drum. It is served with mote (hominy style corn), beer or soft drinks in enamel or tin dishes/bowls. Inca Kola was a popular locally bottled soft drink, not a cola actually, but a cream soda. Great memories. Oil on canvas, 9 x 12 inches. At home in Houston, Texas. |
